One For The Ignorance Files

So I happened to be on facebook and came across a comment in regards to the Peruvian government giving the Obama family the dog seen in the picture. Man people, mostly black people, are mad because the Peruvian government is giving the Obama family a "ugly, black dog with big ears". Yet none of the complaintants actually looked up the significance of the dog.
Here is the comment:
"i said the same thing...they are ass holes and no we are not reading too much into it..i mean a black big eared dog.....???cmon now...no such thing as coincidence..obama should say "thanks but no thanks..my daughters think he is ugly"
Now would one make that same ignorant comment if they knew the history of that dog? The hairless, often toothless dog is the national dog of Peru. Its breed goes back 3,000 years, pre-Columbus time. This was the dog of the Incan kings, so wouldn't it be fitting to give to the President of the United States? Because the dog is hairless, it is hypoallergenic, great for those who have asthma and other allergies, wow, they are even thinking about their health.
So to make a comment like the one presented above about the dogs would be a great disrespect to the Peruvian government and its people. It would also prove to be ignorant on the part of the person who made the comment. One day, we will educate ourselves first and talk second before we allow ignorance to roll off our lips like water off a cliff.
